Shanghai rolls out customized wedding buses
Shanghai turned up the romance on May 20, China's unofficial Valentine's Day, with three customized wedding buses.
The three bus services, rolled out by the city's Jiushi Public Transportation Group, celebrated the romantic day by transforming standard buses into mobile wedding halls.
One of the wedding bus routes, the DZ520 line (DZ stands for "dìnɡ zhì", which means "customized" in Chinese), operates in two modes: a May 20 special route and a regular service.
On May 20 — which is considered a romantic day as the number "520" sounds similar to "I love you" in Chinese — the bus departed from the Baoshan District Marriage Registration Center and terminated at the Bund, offering a memorable journey for newlyweds.
On regular days, couples can book personalized rides to share the special moments with their friends and family.
Another customized route, the DZ1520, departs from Lu Xun Park. The 8-kilometer route links landmarks in Hongkou district, including Waibaidu Bridge and Shanghai Magnolia Plaza.
The DZ1520 runs four times daily from Monday to Saturday, with a ticket price of 2 yuan (27 cents). The route serves couples registering their marriage at the Hongkou Tian'ai Road Marriage Registration Sub-Center, and is also open to the public so that they too can experience its romantic ambiance.
Meanwhile, the DZ2520 "Love in Xuhui" line, carried 10 couples from Shanghai South Railway Station to the Xuhui District Marriage Registration Center on May 20.
Painted in romantic pink, the wedding bus features symbolic departure times like 13:14, as the numbers '1314' phonetically resemble the Chinese phrase "一生一世" (yīshēng yīshì), which means "for a lifetime".
