Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (June 30-July 6)
July 4 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Niels B. Christiansen, president and CEO of the Lego Group, and Fiona Eastwood, CEO of Merlin Entertainments.
Chen highlighted the Legoland project as a new symbol of China-Europe cultural exchange and cooperation. He welcomed the Lego Group's efforts to expand its investments and drive innovation in products and services in Shanghai.
He also noted that the city will enhance policy support — particularly in intellectual property protection — and empower enterprises through advanced technologies to create better conditions for sustainable growth.
Legoland Shanghai Resort, the world's largest Legoland park, is operated by Merlin Entertainments.
Christiansen and Eastwood voiced confidence in Shanghai's future. The Lego Group, they said, will continue to expand its presence in the city and contribute to its growth as an international consumption center and a world-renowned tourist destination.
July 3 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Kurt Sievers, CEO of Dutch company NXP Semiconductors.
Gong emphasized that integrated circuits are one of the three key industries that Shanghai is prioritizing for development. He encouraged multinational companies, including NXP, to enhance the capacity of their regional headquarters in Shanghai and contribute to the city's high-quality industrial development.
Sievers praised Shanghai's open and inclusive business environment, which has enabled NXP to collaborate closely with Chinese partners. He affirmed the company's commitment to deepening cooperation with Shanghai and working together toward a mutually beneficial future.
