Aug 25 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih.

Gong said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia.

He expressed hope to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the digital economy, green development, artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, financial trade, and professional services. He also encouraged more Saudi enterprises to participate in the China International Import Expo.

Al-Falih praised Shanghai as a vibrant city with remarkable achievements and expressed hopes that the two sides will deepen cooperation in economic and trade exchanges, green energy, aerospace, and shipbuilding.

Aug 25 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Oguljahan Atabayeva, vice-president for medical activities at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship in Turkmenistan.

Gong said that Shanghai is building a child-friendly city by strengthening its system of care and support for children. He called for closer exchanges with Turkmenistan in areas such as pediatric healthcare, child welfare, and volunteer services, to promote the all-around development of children.

Atabayeva lauded China's achievements in child development and expressed expectation that the two sides will deepen exchanges and cooperation to enhance the well-being of children in both countries.

Aug 26 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Kim Tae-heum, governor of South Korea's Chungcheongnam-do province.

Gong said that Shanghai and Chungcheongnam-do have maintained close ties since establishing friendly exchange relations in 2008.

He expressed anticipation for stronger collaboration in areas including economy, trade, investment, education, science, and cultural exchanges, encouraging mutual business investment, deeper academic partnerships, and stronger people-to-people ties. He also expressed hope that more tourists from both sides will visit each other.

Kim said that the South Korean people hold great affection for Shanghai and that an increasing number of Korean tourists are eager to visit the city. He welcomed Shanghai residents to explore Chungcheongnam-do and voiced confidence that the two regions will remain close friends for years to come.
