Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (Nov 10-16)
Nov 12 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Calvin McDonald, CEO of sportswear brand Lululemon.
Gong said Shanghai will continue to boost the vitality of sports consumption and further energize the sports market, supported by innovations in mechanisms, policies, business models and products across the sector.
He encouraged Lululemon to leverage the China International Import Expo as a platform to introduce more new products, technologies, and services to Shanghai and the broader Chinese market.
McDonald emphasized that Shanghai remains a key business center for Lululemon, noting that the city's innovation capacity, talent resources, and favorable business environment reinforce the company's confidence in its long-term growth. He added that Lululemon plans to deepen its presence in Shanghai and expand cooperation in community engagement, healthy living, and cultural exchange.

Nov 14 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Sherard Cowper-Coles, chair of the China-Britain Business Council, and Sebastian Wood, the incoming chair.
Gong said he hopes the council will help encourage more companies from the United Kingdom to invest and grow in Shanghai while supporting Chinese enterprises in going global. He highlighted opportunities for deeper cooperation in finance, professional services, biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and green development.
Cowper-Coles and Wood described Shanghai as one of the world's most international cities and expressed confidence in its future. They added that the council will work to attract more UK companies to Shanghai and support Chinese businesses in going global, further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the UK.

Nov 14 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with William "Bill" Brown, chairman and CEO of US materials science company 3M.
Gong encouraged the company to further increase its investment in Shanghai, enhance efforts in research and development, accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements, and introduce more green and low-carbon solutions. He also assured that the city will provide full support for its projects in Shanghai and deliver the highest level of service.
Brown thanked Shanghai for its long-term support, saying that 3M remains confident in the city's development. He added that the company will continue to increase its investment and R&D efforts in Shanghai, supporting sustainable development in green and low-carbon initiatives, technology and manufacturing, while better serving local customers.
