Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (Dec 1-7)
Dec 1 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Andronico Luksic, board consultant and former chairman of Chilean business conglomerate Luksic Group, and his delegation.
Gong encouraged the group to continue optimizing its investment portfolio and bring more key functional segments, innovative projects, and high-quality resources to Shanghai. He called for the group to step up project-level cooperation with local enterprises and offer constructive input on the city's development.
Luksic said that Latin America has a vast market, and Chile and China have long maintained close economic and trade relations, with great potential for future collaboration.
He said he was glad to return to Shanghai after many years. During a 25-kilometer bike ride, he felt the city's vitality and the warmth of its people. He also voiced confidence in Shanghai's development and expressed his eagerness to further deepen cooperation for mutual benefit.

Dec 3 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Michael F. Mahoney, chairman and CEO of US-based medical device company Boston Scientific, and his delegation.
Gong said he hopes that Boston Scientific will continue to optimize its layout and operations in Shanghai, actively support the development of the city's biopharmaceutical industry, play a deeper role in building Shanghai into an international science and technology innovation center, and achieve greater success in the city.
Mahoney praised Shanghai's growing innovation capabilities and strengthening business environment.
He affirmed the company's long-term confidence in China and said it will continue to increase investment in the country, especially in Shanghai, expand its business, and enhance R&D efforts to better meet the needs of Chinese patients.

Dec 4 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Mutale Nalumango, vice-president of the United Party for National Development and vice-president of Zambia, and her delegation.
Gong expressed Shanghai's willingness to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with Zambia through the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
He welcomed more Zambian companies to take part in the China International Import Expo and encouraged deeper industrial cooperation in minerals, green energy, and infrastructure.
Nalumango emphasized Shanghai's inclusive growth and people-centered urban development philosophy. She said Zambia is eager to draw on the city's experience and welcomes more Chinese — especially Shanghai — enterprises to invest in the country, aiming for greater progress in mining, agriculture, energy, tourism, and other sectors.
