Recap: Intl exchange activity of Shanghai leadership (Oct 20-26)
Oct 24 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Bill Winters, group chief executive of London-headquartered Standard Chartered.
Gong encouraged the bank to expand its investment and presence in Shanghai, further develop innovative financial services, strengthen financial support for Chinese enterprises going global, and actively participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo.
He reaffirmed Shanghai's commitment to fostering a world-class business environment and supporting international financial institutions in achieving greater development in the city.
Winters said that he sees vast opportunities in China and Shanghai and remains confident in the city's development. He added that the bank will continue to improve its services and provide better financial solutions through innovation.
Standard Chartered Group, ranked 373rd on the Fortune Global 500 list, has established its China headquarters in Shanghai and is among the first foreign-funded banks to be locally incorporated in China.
