Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (April 22-26)

April 25 - Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with a delegation headed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Chen noted that this year marks the 45th anniversary of China-US diplomatic relations and emphasized Shanghai's commitment to contributing to the development of bilateral relations. Shanghai seeks to generate fresh development prospects and expand collaboration for both domestic and foreign enterprises, including those hailing from the United States. The city is also committed to upholding market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized principles, optimizing the business environment, and providing support to enterprises.

Blinken affirmed that China's development benefits the world, and the US welcomes China's prosperity. Maintaining dialogue and communication is vital for managing differences and promoting cooperation. He voiced support for the ongoing cooperation between the US and China.

April 23 - Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Rafael Lacava, governor of Carabobo state, Venezuela, and signed an agreement to establish friendly exchange relations.

Gong underscored the importance of Carabobo as Venezuela's primary industrial production hub and a vital area for agriculture and animal husbandry. He expressed his intention to enhance cooperation in sectors such as automobile, chemical, and food. He emphasized facilitating interaction between Shanghai Port and the port of Puerto Cabello, establishing comprehensive cooperation in port planning, eco-friendly shipping, and related services.

In response, Lacava encouraged Chinese and Shanghai-based companies to invest in Carabobo's automobile industry and support park renovation and technological advancements. He also welcomed Chinese tourists to visit Carabobo.
