Sept 16 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Asif Ali Zardari, president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Chen expressed Shanghai's willingness to deepen its friendship city relationship with Karachi, expand economic and trade cooperation, and promote cultural and youth exchanges to further strengthen China-Pakistan ties.

Zardari said that Pakistan and China are close neighbors and enduring partners. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to learning from China's successful experience, advancing practical cooperation in diverse fields, and fostering stronger people-to-people exchanges.

Sept 21 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

Chen congratulated the establishment of the UNESCO International Institute for STEM Education in Shanghai.

He said he hoped that Shanghai and UNESCO would expand cooperation in education, science, technology, and culture, create more platforms and programs, advance the governance of artificial intelligence in education, and further support the development of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Azoulay highlighted the historic significance of establishing the first UNESCO Category 1 Center in China. She called for stronger collaboration in cultural creativity, youth exchanges, and the governance of AI in education, emphasizing the potential to bring benefits to people around the world.

Sept 17 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Dirk Van de Put, chairman and CEO of the US-based confectionery company Mondelez International.

Gong said that Shanghai welcomes global food companies such as Mondelez International to actively participate in the development of the city's food sector, continuously enhance the capabilities of their Shanghai headquarters, deeply integrate into the local industrial and supply chains, increase the supply of high-quality food, and lead new trends in snack consumption.

Van de Put praised Shanghai as a city that is constantly evolving and often sets trends ahead of the world. He emphasized that Mondelez International is committed to developing in China, aiming to seize growth opportunities in the Chinese market, provide better experiences for consumers, and share China’s experience globally.
