May 15 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

Gong called for win-win cooperation between Shanghai and Colombia in areas such as trade and investment, port and shipping, and cultural exchange and tourism.

He noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum and the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia.

Petro highlighted Shanghai's role as a hub for global talent. He expressed Colombia's eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Shanghai in tourism and trade and encouraged closer exchanges between universities, particularly among young people.
