Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (May 19-25)
May 21 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm, a US wireless communication technology company.
Chen highlighted Shanghai's focus on artificial intelligence. He welcomed Qualcomm to further expand its investment in Shanghai, optimize its R&D and business presence, and introduce new technologies, applications, and products to the city.
Amon said that Qualcomm has participated in all seven editions of the China International Import Expo, and that Shanghai plays a pivotal role in the company's innovation, R&D, and business strategy. He underscored Qualcomm's commitment to increasing investment in the city and bringing in research talent.

May 22 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Timothy F. Geithner, chairman of Warburg Pincus, a US private equity company.
Chen welcomed Warburg Pincus to fully leverage its professional investment advantages, focusing on key areas to increase investment in Shanghai. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts to promote economic and trade exchanges and people-to-people interactions between China and the United States.
Geithner highlighted Shanghai's important role as a hub in Warburg Pincus's global strategy. He expressed optimism over the city's vast potential and conveyed his eagerness to deepen cooperation in sectors such as healthcare, finance, and real estate.
May 21 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov.
Gong said that Shanghai established a friendship city relationship with Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, in 2016. He called for stronger exchanges and even more cooperation with Sofia in areas such as trade and investment, education and technology, culture, and tourism.
Zafirov expressed his eagerness to learn more about Shanghai — China's economic center. He also invited more Shanghai enterprises to invest in Bulgaria and encouraged more tourists from the city to discover the beauty of his country.

May 22 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Sultangaziev Marat Eleusizovich, governor of Almaty Region, Kazakhstan.
Gong expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in trade and industrial investment between Shanghai and Almaty Region. He encouraged greater people-to-people exchanges and tourism through the mutual visa exemption between China and Kazakhstan.
Eleusizovich welcomed Shanghai enterprises to invest in Almaty Region and expressed a desire to further deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, finance, logistics, new energy, and tourism.
