Expats celebrate Spring Festival in Jing'an
Expats from countries including the United States, Germany, Russia, Albania, Japan, and South Korea recently gathered in Jing'an district of Shanghai to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.
They wrote the Chinese character fu (meaning happiness and good fortune), created rubbings of text and patterns, and made dumplings and other Spring Festival foods.
While writing the character fu, they learned key calligraphy techniques such as proper pen grip, ink dipping, and writing posture.

As the rubbings took shape, they experienced the traditional Chinese technique of using rice paper and ink to reproduce text and patterns.

The making and tasting of traditional Chinese snacks, including spring rolls and dumplings, brought the celebration to a delicious close.
