Standard ticket sales begin for Egyptian artifacts exhibition

A thrilling exhibition called On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt will open to the public on July 19 at the Shanghai Museum – located in the People's Square in the Huangpu district of East China's Shanghai – and runs to Aug 17 next year.
The event has already proved to be a smash hit, with all 200,000 early bird tickets sold out since ticket sales started on May 20.
Reservations for the early bird tickets started along with sales of standard tickets through the official WeChat mini-program of the Shanghai Museum, the museum's on-site ticket offices and Trip.com.

Ticket price and applicable dates
1. Full price ticket
Price: 148 yuan
Available dates: As long as the exhibition is open
2. Designated day ticket
Price: 135 yuan
Available dates: Dates excluding July 19 to Aug 31, 2024, Jan 1 to Feb 28, 2025, July 1 to Aug 17, 2025 as well as weekends and public holidays.
3. Discount ticket
Price: 74 yuan
Available dates: As long as the exhibition is open
4. Parent and child ticket combo A (One parent and one child)
Price: 200 yuan
Available dates: As long as the exhibition is open
5. Parent and child ticket combo B (Two parents and one child)
Price: 320 yuan
Available dates: As long as the exhibition is open
Discount ticket and free entry
Shanghai Museum will have the following offers for ticket sales:
Parent and child ticket: Eligible for children younger than 14 years old and above the height of 1.3 m.
Discount ticket: Seniors 60 years old and above, youths aged 6-18, students doing a full-time bachelor's degree, and active military personnel with ID.
Free entry: Children under 1.3 meters or 6 years old and younger (One adult can bring two children that are eligible for free entry), disabled people with valid certificates.
Ticket sales channels:
Tickets are sold through the official WeChat mini-program of the Shanghai Museum, on-site ticket offices and Trip.com.
Mini-program:
1. On WeChat, search Shanghai Museum Visit Reservation("上海博物馆参观预约") and click into the mini-program.
2. Find the official WeChat account of the Shanghai Museum and click on the reservation icon.
Trip.com: Search for Shanghai Museum at Trip.com app. Ticket sales open time depends on the company's announcement.
Notice for reservations and visits
Visitors must make a real-name reservation and there is one ticket for each person. Every ID is limited to one reservation per day. Visitors have no need to reserve a permanent exhibition on the reserved day. They can visit a special and the permanent exhibition at the museum by showing their ID.
Discount ticket buyers must bring valid ID for checking.
Visitors eligible for free entry should bring an original copy of valid certificates for entry.
Reservation changes:
1. Visitors with early bird tickets can change their reservations three times, at any time on or before Dec 31, 2024.
2. Visitors with a full-price ticket, designated day ticket, discount ticket and parent and child ticket can change their reservation twice. Those with a full-price ticket, discount ticket and parent and child ticket can change their reservation to any dates available. Designated day tickets can only be rearranged to certain days. Visitors with a parent and child ticket must change their reservation date altogether.
3. If visitors change their reservation day to a designated day, price differences will not be refunded.

The On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt expo is the fourth exhibition in Shanghai Museum's A Dialogue with the World Exhibitions Series of Arts and Cultural Relics. The exhibition will be unveiled on July 18 at the Shanghai Museum on People's Square and open to the public from July 19.
As the largest exhibition of ancient Egypt's artifacts being shown overseas, it is displaying 788 artifacts from different periods in ancient Egypt. More than 95 percent of the cultural relics on show are the results of direct cooperation with the Egyptian government. The exhibition will last 13 months, revealing the mysteries of the ancient Egyptian civilization and the latest archaeological discoveries to visitors. It is also expected to promote mutual understanding between the Chinese and Egyptian civilizations.
