1.Overview of China International Import Expo

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is the world's first national-level expo with a focus on imports, demonstrating China's proactive stance in opening up its market to the world. In May 2017, China's President Xi Jinping announced that China would host the CIIE starting from 2018. Since then, the CIIE has been held annually in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.

With active participation and strong support from the international community, the CIIE has been successfully held for six consecutive sessions, serving as a platform for international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange, and open cooperation. It has been significantly improved in quality and effectiveness, with broader international influence, becoming a showcase of China's new development paradigm, a platform for high-standard opening up, and a public good for the whole world.

Over the past six years, the CIIE has attracted participation from 181 countries and regions, with approximately 16,000 companies launching and showcasing around 2,500 representative new products, technologies, and services for the first time. The intended transaction volume reached approximately $420 billion. The hosting of the CIIE is a vivid practice of China's firm commitment to high-standard opening up. Through such practice, we aim to make China's vast market a market shared by the world.

2.When and where does the CIIE take place?

The CIIE is held on November 5-10 every year at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) since 2018.

3.Who are the hosts, supporters and organizers of the CIIE?

The CIIE is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, supported by such international organizations as WTO, UNCTAD and UNIDO and organized by CIIE Bureau and National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

4.What are the components of the CIIE?

The CIIE consists of the Comprehensive Country Exhibition, Enterprise & Business Exhibition, Hongqiao International Economic Forum, Supporting Activities and People-to-people Exchanges.
