Following his speech, Støre was presented with two special gifts from the university: the Atlas of Extreme Droughts and Floods in China during the Past Millennium (1000-2020) – a project compiled over more than a decade by Professor Yang Yuda and his team from Fudan's Institute for Chinese Historical Geography Studies – and a photograph from 1995, capturing Støre's visit to Fudan University alongside the then Prime Minister of Norway.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Norway, with China now being Norway's largest trading partner in Asia.

The two countries have been expanding and deepening cooperation in various fields – including environmental protection, shipping, shipbuilding, energy, fisheries, healthcare and polar research.

"I am very excited and happy to listen to the Prime Minister's speech and look forward to learning about the development of Norway, a Nordic country," a Fudan student remarked before the event.

Other students expressed their hopes for closer academic exchanges between China and Norway in the future, anticipating opportunities for exchange studies in Norway.
