International students celebrate upcoming Spring Festival at Hongkou district

Shanghai's Hongkou district hosted a grand lantern fair on Jan 10 to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Snake, which attracted international students from Shanghai International Studies University.

Spring Festival was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024.

The students witnessed the lighting ceremony and participated in activities such as calligraphy and stone rubbing. A student from Nigeria performed kuaiban, a type of traditional Chinese clapper talk, garnering enthusiastic applause from the audience.
