Once you have reached the minimum retirement age of 60 (for men) and 55 (for women) and you're enrolled in Shanghai's social insurance program and made contributions to the fund for 15 consecutive years, you are eligible to apply to receive basic pension.

If you have not reached the minimum payment period of 15 years, you can choose to continue making payments or terminate your basic pension plan.
