The Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre in Shanghai's Jiading district is set to dazzle audiences in July with the launch of a water show titled Steam Worlds.

Combining acrobatics and magic with outdoor water features, lighting effects, and light and shadow fountains, these shows are perfect for families looking to enjoy an outdoor show together.

The water light show, which will take place every Friday and every other Saturday in July, is divided into four acts, aiming to showcase the historical, cultural, and industrial characteristics of Jiading district. With ticket prices set at 40 yuan ($4.40) per person, the show will also highlight ancient Chinese poetry and lively electronic music.

On July 20, accompanied by lively music, a cast of Steam World will take the stage: the humorous Mr. Steam, the pilot with a propeller on his head, the diver with an oxygen headgear, the mischievous punk blacksmith, the dancer in a spiral skirt, the singer with a large horn on his head, and a towering giant of over three meters. Each of them possesses extraordinary skills and creative ideas. Audiences can expect to witness eruptions of smoke, air cannons, color-changing potions, and explosive dry ice displays. Mr. Steam will even invite an audience member on stage for a fun and interactive performance.

The 60-minute performance, set to bring a visual feast to the audience, is produced by the Shanghai Dream Carriage Theatre Troupe, known for their appearances at national gala events, including the 2018 CCTV Spring Festival Gala.

As the performances are held outdoors, the Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre has stated that if the weather is not optimal, the show for that day will be canceled. Audience members are encouraged to stay updated by checking for text messages from the theatre and announcements on the "Shanghai Jiading" WeChat account for information on canceled shows. They can then choose to either get a refund or exchange their tickets for any subsequent water light show.
