Great Art of Dunhuang showcases cultural treasures at China Art Museum
From Sept 20 to Dec 20, Shanghai's China Art Museum will present the Great Art of Dunhuang exhibition, featuring 200 carefully curated cultural masterpieces from the Dunhuang Academy that offer a unique glimpse into a rich heritage.
The showcase will highlight a diverse array of artifacts, including six intricately carved stones, exquisite calligraphies, and replicas of six iconic grottos from the famed Mogao Caves, meticulously recreated in their original forms. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to marvel at six invaluable sutra relics, accompanied by their replicas, organized into four thematic units that narrate tales spanning from the ancient Silk Road era to the ongoing efforts in restoration and preservation.
Dunhuang, an ancient oasis city nestled amidst the Gobi desert in Gansu province, holds significant historical importance as a pivotal trading hub along the ancient Silk Road. The city is renowned for the awe-inspiring Mogao Caves, a sanctuary of Buddhist art and cultural heritage that continues to captivate visitors from around the globe.
Tickets for the exhibition are priced at 98 yuan ($13.75) per person. Special discounts and preferential rates are available, with complimentary entry granted to children under 1.3 meters in height and individuals with disabilities. Children between 1.3 meters and 1.5 meters tall can acquire tickets for 9.9 yuan, while students and seniors aged 60 and above are eligible for half-priced tickets.
For the convenience of visitors, tickets can be purchased through various platforms, including Damai.cn and the Maoyan, Douyin and Xiecheng apps.
