Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (Jan 8-14)
Jan 8 — Party Secretary of Shanghai Chen Jining said the city will continue to expand high-level opening-up, build a platform for international cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and contribute more to China-US ties when he met with former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers.


Jan 10 — Party Secretary of Shanghai Chen Jining met with UBS Chairman Colm Kelleher and said efforts would be made to build a regulatory system that is compatible with high-level opening-up and new technological changes.

The municipal government would listen to suggestions from enterprises and provide high-quality services to meet enterprises' demands and support them in achieving greater progress in Shanghai, he added.

Jan 11 — Shanghai will strengthen coordination, provide convenient services, create a good environment, and help enterprises maintain long-term development in the city with stablity and predictability.
Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, made the remarks when he met with P&G's Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer Jon Moeller.


Jan 11 — Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, met with a delegation led by Jérôme Lambert, CEO of Swiss luxury group Richemont.

Chen said that Shanghai would make every effort to create a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, governed by law, and internationalized, and support Chinese and foreign enterprises to achieve greater development in Shanghai.

Jan 10 — Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, held talks with Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib.

Gong welcomed more Belgian enterprises to take part in this year's China International Import Expo, further expand their business layout in Shanghai, and bring more new investment projects, businesses, and technologies to the city.
He added that Shanghai would also encourage its enterprises to invest in Belgium and explore the world market together with Belgian enterprises.
He also hoped to further expand cultural exchanges and industry cooperation, and encourage more tourists to visit each other, promoting mutual understanding between the people.

Jan 11 — Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng held a meeting with Jin Liqun, president and chairman of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Shanghai is actively expanding its technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, and digital finance businesses, striving to form a high-level cycle of "technology-industry-finance", according to Gong.
AIIB has a solid foundation of cooperation with Shanghai, he said, adding that he expected AIIB to participate more widely and deeply in Shanghai's modernization construction, especially in its plan to build itself into an international financial center.
He also looks forward to promoting Shanghai's new infrastructure construction and green and low-carbon transformation, supporting Shanghai in building a world-class aviation hub, working together to advance Shanghai's urban renewal, and expanding international exchange and cooperation platforms with the AIIB.
