Recap: Intl exchange activities of Shanghai leadership (May 15-19)

May 14 - Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, met with Rob Speyer, vice chairman of the International Business Leaders' Advisory Council of the Mayor of Shanghai and CEO of Tishman Speyer.

Chen extended a warm welcome, encouraging the company to further enhance its investments and actively engage in Shanghai's urban revitalization endeavors. Additionally, he conveyed a keen interest in fostering a collaborative partnership with the company to nurture the city's biopharmaceutical industry ecosystem and develop more iconic and groundbreaking projects and industrial ventures.

Speyer introduced the company's progress in collaborative efforts since his previous visit to Shanghai last year and expressed confidence in the advancement of projects and overall development in the city. The company is committed to advancing its investment strategies, expediting project execution, and playing a more prominent role in propelling Shanghai towards becoming the most innovative and dynamic city in the world.

May 18 - Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, met with a delegation from the International Olympic Committee, which was headed by its president, Thomas Bach.

Chen extended a warm welcome to Bach and expressed deep gratitude for the steadfast support of the IOC in hosting the inaugural Olympic Qualification Series in the city. He expressed hope that Shanghai would further enhance practical collaboration with the committee and other sports organizations, particularly in the realm of hosting international sports events and fostering cultural exchanges. Chen also underscored the importance of nurturing young sports talent, enhancing communication, improving coordination, and promoting mutual learning.

Bach praised the successful organization of the inaugural Olympic Qualification Series in Shanghai, noting that the event exceeded expectations and set a new standard. He expressed his keen interest in deepening cooperation and exchanges in order to inspire individuals of all ages, especially the youth, to embrace sports and revel in the joy that sports bring.
