Get set for excitement at the Shanghai Sailing Open
Sails are set for the inaugural Shanghai Sailing Open, a flagship event held at Dishui Lake in Pudong New Area from March 26 to 31, when boating enthusiasts from around the world will gather to kick off a nautical extravaganza.
The event highlights "One Village", "One Voyage", and "One Race". One Village refers to the sailing event village located at the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal on the North Bund, which will be especially fun for visitors.
A variety of sailing-themed activities, including nautical culture, interactive experiences, marine conservation, entertainment programs, and photo-taking opportunities, are provided in the village, offering a diverse event experience.
Upon entering the village, visitors receive a "SH Sailing Crew Certificate" for participating in various tasks, collecting stamps for exclusive gifts, exploring the joy of sailing, and embarking on a "voyage ".
There are daily exciting youth sailor dance shows and interactive activities held at the Shanghai Sailing Theater.
A special exhibition, jointly organized by the Shanghai Sailing Open and the China Maritime Museum, allows visitors to experience ancient Chinese maritime civilization.
Many ceremonial photo-taking spots have been set for "crew members" to allow them to capture happy memories.
The experience area hosts activities such as a coach with 10 years of experience who teaches visitors how to tie sailor knots ranging from simple to a complex figure-eight — essential skills that all sailors need to know.
Through VR equipment, visitors can simulate sailing scenes in the village. With the help of staff, guests control the oars and sail with a controller to experience the thrill of riding the waves.
Remote-controlled sailing is also a hit as visitors guide a sailboat around a mark and back to the finish line.
The sailing event village is open to the public with a reservation. Guests can make real-name reservations through the "Shang Sailing"(上帆) mini-program. The number of visitors for different reservation periods is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Onsite entry requires an ID to verify reservation information.
