Bon appétit: Shanghai invites you on a global taste tour

The Shanghai Global Gourmet Festival is set to begin on May 31, offering international cuisine and iconic delicacies from around the world. As part of the Shanghai Shopping Festival, the event strives to establish Shanghai as a global culinary hub.

The festival will feature country-specific food markets, signature events at various venues, and a host of online and offline promotions from over 2,000 participating restaurants. This culinary extravaganza promises to ignite a city-wide passion for food, offering a unique dining experience where one can have a "global taste tour" in Shanghai.

The festival will unveil a guide featuring popular food recommendations at renowned locations such as the Bund and Xintiandi. Covering iconic culinary destinations in the Huangpu, Jing'an, and Xuhui districts, the guide will highlight a diverse range of cuisines, including restaurants, food stalls and trendy bars.

The festival will also unveil information on year-round gourmet activities, such as introducing the Global Food Index. The main venue of the food festival, BFC in the Bund, will also host a global food market on June 29 to 30. This market will bring together nearly 90 food and beverage brands from around 20 countries and regions.

By collaborating with landmark restaurants and local and foreign food promotion ambassadors, the festival will showcase a variety of international flavors, immersive global culinary experiences, and rich cultural elements from different countries.

During the festival, Meituan will release the 2024 Bar Guide, which collaborates with 77 top-rated bars in Shanghai to offer free drinks and a series of promotional activities. It will also introduce the City Drink map and the first Bar Guide IP market event. Review platform Dianping will also partner with over 50 businesses in Shanghai to host food markets at commercial landmarks like MetroCity and BFC.
