Key events of Shanghai Silk Road E-Commerce Carnival

The 2024 Shanghai Silk Road E-Commerce Carnival, a key highlight of the 5th Shanghai Shopping Festival, commenced on May 7 and is scheduled to continue until May 17. This year's festival is a vibrant showcase of over 50 online and onsite activities designed to boost consumption and celebrate the digital trade era.

Pinduoduo | Silk Road E-Commerce Festival

Date: May 7-11

Online discounter Pinduoduo has launched a special "Shanghai Silk Road E-Commerce Carnival" page. Shoppers can enter the dedicated section by searching for the festival (enter “丝路云品电商节” in the search bar) on the app, where they will find a selection of goods from Silk Road countries such as Chile, Russia and Australia.

Shanghai Silk Road E-Commerce Alliance | The Traveling Camel Bell Market

Date: May 7-12

Location: Hubo, Hongqiao Tiandi Xintiandi

The market features dozens of carefully selected products from over 10 Silk Road countries, including Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russia, the UAE, Iran and Chile, complemented by authentic attire and cuisine from China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Dingdong Grocery | Southeast Asian Fruit Festival

Date: May 7-17

Online grocery shopping platform Dingdong Grocery has initiated a promotional campaign highlighting 26 varieties of fruit sourced from Southeast Asia, such as Thai durian, Filipino bananas, Cambodian pineapples, and Vietnamese dragon fruit. Customers can enjoy diverse discounts based on their total spending on the app.

Ele.me | Silk Road Gourmet Collection

Date: May 7-17

Food delivery platform Ele.me has partnered with local restaurants from Silk Road countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Italy to create the "丝路美食荟 (Silk Road Gourmet Collection)" on the app. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 55 yuan ($7.61) through daily coupon draws and avail a 50 percent discount on selected Silk Road culinary delights.

Pakistan Merchandise Pavilion Opening Ceremony

Location: Global Hub, No 300 Yinglun Road, Pudong New Area

The official Douyin account for the Pakistan Merchandise Pavilion (account: PakistanOfficial) will host a livestream featuring officials from the Pakistani consulate introducing the country's culture and history, showcasing Pakistani jewelry, food and other specialty products. Coinciding with the online ceremony, a promotional event will be held on the same day at Global Hub. The event will display Pakistan's gemstones, dry fruits, nuts and Himalayan salt lamps.

Greenland | Uzbekistan Theme Day

Date: May 15

The Uzbekistan Import Pavilion will open at the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub. The pavilion will join hands with the hub's livestreaming platform G-Onair to present a live stream event via the Douyin app (search "G-Onair全球好物分享"). The event will feature hand-embroidered scarves, hand-painted Rishtan ceramics, hand-crocheted coats and embroidered cushion covers and table flags.

Freshippo | Italy Theme Day

Date: May 17

Consumers visiting premier stores of Alibaba's fresh food chain Freshippo in Shanghai will have the chance to immerse themselves in Italian wines, cuisine and culture.

Global Hub | Australia and New Zealand Wine Festival

Dates: May 7-11

Location: Global Hub, No 300 Yinglun Road, Pudong New Area

The event has brought together Australian and New Zealand wine enterprises and brands. Attendees can learn about wine culture, the winemaking process and wine-tasting etiquette, with opportunities for on-site tasting and interactive quizzes with prizes.
