Shanghai No 1 Department Store, the first State-owned department store established after 1949, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Located on the East Nanjing Road in Shanghai's Huangpu district, this iconic store helped pioneer the city's commercial scene.

Over the past 75 years, the department store has never ceased its innovative endeavors. Since 2023, it has gradually introduced a variety of innovative formats, continuously deepening its artistic sectors. It has evolved into a trendy landmark for young people and a popular city-walk destination, providing consumers with a more diverse and enriched shopping experience.

In late April last year, Star Space made its debut in the department store's commercial center, spanning over 4,600 square meters. It became China's first immersive entertainment space in a mall, featuring 11 immersive musicals and dramas. This innovative initiative not only offers consumers a new experience beyond shopping and dining but also integrates art with commerce.

Simultaneously, the department store has fostered a diverse cultural exchange atmosphere by integrating cultural activities, themed cafes, selected books, and creative cultural products, becoming a stress-relieving haven for young people.

Meanwhile, a new snack street offers a more diverse selection to consumers, from desserts, tea drinks, and trendy snacks to regional cuisines.

In addition to dining upgrades, the department store also focuses on fashion and art, hosting various creative market events and actively organizing vibrant community activities and promoting a healthier and freer lifestyle.
