About SUFE & ICES

Professional Business Chinese Training

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), a renowned university in China, is one of the first universities in Shanghai to create business Chinese courses for international students, and it is among the few universities to offer business Chinese courses at different levels.

Highly Experienced Faculty

All SUFE teachers graduated from top universities in China and abroad. Most of them have overseas Chinese teaching experience and are good at using a variety of teaching methods to suit the student's needs.

Good Learning Experience

All language students will study at the International Cultural Exchange School (ICES) Building on SUFE's Wudong campus. All classrooms are equipped with the advanced multimedia teaching equipment and facilities, providing students with a pleasant environment and good learning experience.

Easy, Vibrant and Colorful Life

ICES has organized various extracurricular activities for international students such as welcome parties, Dragon Boat Races and other sports competitions. A wide selection of club activities enable international students to showcase their strengths, cultivate interests, and make friends.

SUFE’s Yangpu campus is located in the northeastern part of Shanghai’s downtown area, which has a strong cultural atmosphere and a vibrant international student community. The campus is adjacent to Metro Line 3 and Line 18, with several bus stops within walking distance. In addition, the campus is a 15-minute walk from the Wujiaochang commercial center, making shopping more convenient.

The total number of students in my class does not exceed 20, the same as other classes. Each of us has the opportunity to showcase ourselves, and we interact with classmates and teachers a lot, which means our learning efficiency is higher.

The Business Chinese program I participated in helped me solidify my basic skills in Business Chinese, master basic theoretical knowledge and skills in management and economics, and become familiar with business etiquette in China. In class, the teacher will conduct case studies on representative Chinese companies, such as Huawei and Pinduoduo, to help us understand Chinese business culture. In the near future, I will work in Chinese companies, and the knowledge learned from SUFE’s Business Chinese program will provide me with a good knowledge foundation.

SUFE not only provides us with exciting Chinese books and courses, but also creates many opportunities for us to learn Chinese from every-day life. I would like to say that my favorite part of the program is the extracurricular activities. The international student union holds activities such as art exhibitions, concerts, choir competitions, and sports competitions, which means we can meet more Chinese students and other international students. The colorful activities allow us to experience different cultures on campus. As we attend these activities, we also take the opportunity to improve our Chinese proficiency by communicating with others.

When choosing a language school in Shanghai, I paid close attention to class size, textbooks, and the teaching environment. I appreciated the recruitment team's timely and clear email replies - a great communication and consulting experience. Through them, I gained an early understanding of the teaching materials and information used by language students. In addition, by visiting the facility in person, I learned that ICES’ teaching building is modern, quiet and tidy, and its classroom environment is bright and clean. In summary, through comparison with other schools, I ultimately chose to apply for SUFE’s Chinese language course. The registration guidance brochure I received before the start of the semester was also very detailed, with information about enrollment and registration as well as general information on life in Shanghai. It is very helpful for foreigners who are about to study and live in China. Regarding the Chinese language course, I would like to say that I really like the teachers at ICES. Part 1 Program Information

1. Teaching Format

Face-to-face teaching.

2. Course & Level

ICES has organized a General Chinese Program and a Business Chinese Program for international students.

Levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced

*10-15 students per class, a class is formed when there are at least five students

*To apply for the Business Chinese program, a basic level of proficiency in Chinese (HSK Level 3) is required. For students starting from scratch, the university recommends starting with the General Chinese Program first.

3. Duration & Semester

Applicants can choose to apply for either one semester or one academic year.

2024 Fall semester registration day:

September 4, 2024

> Fall semester: September 2024 - January 2025

> Spring semester: February 2025 - June 2025

4. Fees

Application Fee:

415 yuan ($57.3)/person

Tuition:

9,000 yuan/semester, 18,000 yuan/year
