Jazz star Ekep Nkwelle shines on Shanghai stage

In hot news for jazz fanatics, young singing sensation Ekep Nkwelle and her band are performing right now at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai — located on East Nanjing Road, Huangpu district — with the gig running to March 2.
Ekep Nkwelle, 25, is a rising star in the jazz world. Swiss media outlet Der Bund predicted that the Cameroonian-American would win Grammys.
For this residency, Nkwelle has curated three distinct themed sets specifically for the Shanghai audience.
She explained that she's accustomed to a hectic schedule and challenging musical journeys. Nkwelle also highlighted Shanghai's rich jazz tradition and expressed her excitement about learning Chinese pieces and exchanging ideas with local jazz musicians.

She further noted that the band frequently adapts their setlist and performance style in response to the venue, atmosphere and audience feedback — promising that the upcoming two weeks would be an exciting and unpredictable journey.
