Explore Shanghai's roots in Songjiang cultural tourism festival
The Root of Shanghai cultural tourism festival kicked off on the evening of Sept 17 in Shanghai Film Park in Songjiang district and will run to November.
Songjiang is considered to be the original Root of Shanghai due to its historical and cultural significance. This perception stems from the Songjiang-Shanghai Root Cultural Tourism Festival that was held on Sept 25-Oct 5 in 1994.
This year's festival is part of the ongoing Shanghai Tourism Festival and features diverse activities like parades, exhibitions and competitions.
Songjiang's many lively attractions are offering lots of fun and discounts during the festival.
The Shanghai Film Park, the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort (Tianma Mountain Park, Xiaokunshan Park), Fangta Garden, Zuibaichi Park and more have launched half-price tickets during designated periods.
Sijing Ancient Town offered tourists the chance to witness a dragon boat invitational race on Sept 20-22. The town also offered a tour on Sept 21 taking in Zhangjing River, the Henggang Road Sijing Tang Bridge and Huibo Bay.
What's more, Shanghai Film Park's first metaverse parent-child interactive game, The Adventures of Dun Dun, will be upgraded in October to create a brand-new experience for visitors. Its design is based on the newly built west gate and the central axis of the park.
Various coffee-themed activities were held on Sept 14-18 during the Songjiang Coffee Golden Week. The Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort event introduced tourism offerings, like the Xu Xiake Ancient Waterway AR Experience.
Some hotels in Songjiang are also presenting special promotions – providing additional incentives for tourists to visit and enjoy their stay.
