The Shanghai Green Consumption Season was launched on April 29 in the city's Huangpu district as part of the fifth Shanghai Shopping Festival, and will last through the end of June. The event aims to promote a green lifestyle by showcasing new environmentally friendly products and innovative concepts in sustainable consumption.

Activities are concentrated in the Huaihai Road commercial district, with various brands participating in this eco-conscious initiative.

Domestic and international companies such as Adidas, Suning, Shui On Land, and the R.I.S.E. Sustainable Fashion Innovation Platform presented green-themed activities to engage consumers and promote sustainable consumption.

The event also emphasizes the importance of recycling and reusing resources to improve consumption and production efficiency.

BASF China, in collaboration with Jinguang Paper, has unveiled a water-based coating technology for disposable paper cups. The innovation replaces the polyethylene film with a water-based acrylic acid emulsion, maintaining waterproof performance while enabling used paper cups to be directly recycled and transformed into brand-new paper.

Crystal glass producer Swarovski has launched a new series of high-end jewelry featuring cultured diamonds. This series utilizes innovative craftsmanship, with all pieces made using 100 percent renewable energy and recyclable gold and silver materials.

Adidas encourages recycling used clothing and shoes by offering discount coupons for recycled products.

The event also advocates a low-carbon diet and other green lifestyles through a range of activities.

Businesses such as Luxottica, Canon, and Swarovski initiated the proposal to build a green consumer business district on Huaihai Road and launched the first edition of the "Shanghai Green Consumption Lifestyle Map".

Shanghai has ramped up efforts to promote green consumption. The city initiated on March 30 a new round of trade-in subsidy programs for green and smart home appliances, with brands including Midea, Sharp, and Hitachi participating.

Through a series of activities and campaigns focused on green consumption, the city aims to lead the way in sustainable and environmentally friendly consumer practices.
