2024 China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge set for May 12
The Shanghai Administration of Sports has announced that the China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge - 2024 Shanghai will be held on May 12.
The event will feature approximately 24 themed routes, with the main venue located at Shanghai Stadium. The competition will include standard routes, parent-child routes, and specialized routes.
Teams participating in the standard routes will be randomly grouped, while teams can choose specialized routes and parent-child routes during registration based on their preferences.
The orienteering challenge, founded in 2011 and upgraded to "China Coordinate" in 2016, has been held for 13 consecutive years. It is based on the development strategy of "sports + culture and tourism", utilizing diversified events as a catalyst to showcase cultural and tourism events. This event was among the first batch to be included in "Shanghai Sports" in 2021 and has been designated a demonstration project for the sports industry in Shanghai.
Pre-registration has started on April 1 and will close at 8 pm on April 7. Official registration will take place on April 15 at 10 am and will close once capacity is reached.

Team Challenge

Registration Period
Pre-registration
April 1, 10 am – April 7, 8 pm
Official Registration
April 15 at 10 am until capacity is reached
*During pre-registration, teams can select routes and provide and save information about team members and the team.
*During official registration, teams can secure spots by paying the registration fee through the WeChat "竞报名" mini-program.
*Three hours after the start of official registration, teams that have not successfully registered for their chosen route can switch to a route that is still available (except for the parent-child route).

Eligibility
1. Anyone who meets the requirements of the competition regulations, regardless of nationality, with valid identification and suitable physical condition, can register.
2. Participants must be between 18 and 60 (age requirements for the parent-child route depend on the specific route's registration requirements).
Registration Fee
Participants must pay a registration fee of 100 yuan ($13.83) per person. For standard routes and specialized routes, each team of five members must pay a total of 500 yuan, while those taking the parent-child route (team of three) must pay a total of 300 yuan.
Payment is made through WeChat and spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The registration fee will be used to purchase competition materials, including clothing, backpacks, team flags, bibs, event programs, metro cards, competition equipment, and insurance.
Registration Process
1. Register an account through the "竞报名" mini-program
2. Accurately fill in personal information
3. Choose competition, read, and confirm the competition regulations
4. Set the team name (up to six Chinese characters in length)
5. Choose the pre-registration competition route
All registered teams will be randomly grouped according to the Competition Regulations for the China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge - 2024 Shanghai based on the competition route. Participating teams must adhere to the grouping arrangements. The parent-child route and specialized routes have specific conditions for participation, which will be announced in advance, allowing registered participants to choose according to their preferences.
6. The team leader invites team members to join via their mobile phone numbers and once the members accept, the team is formed (members must register an account and complete their personal information).

8. During the official registration phase, team leaders who completed pre-registration can log on to the mini-program to compete for spots.
Standard Routes
Teams register with the event organizers in groups of five adults, with at least one member of the opposite sex. Teams registering for the standard route will be randomly grouped according to the competition route based on the Competition Regulations for the China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge - 2024 Shanghai and must adhere to the grouping arrangements.

Parent-Child Route
Registration Conditions and Requirements
Parent-child route (each team consists of three members)
This route requires a 2+1 registration format, meaning two adults and one child form a team (gender not restricted). The child must be between 7 and 16 (based on the pre-registration date and ID card number). If the three team members are not relatives, the child must have the consent of their guardian to participate. The team leader must be an adult.

Notes
1. After the registration opens, the organizing committee reserves the right to make adjustments to the schedule as necessary.
2. During pre-registration, teams can choose the standard route, specialized route, or parent-child route based on the respective route requirements.
3. Choosing the standard route means the organizing committee will randomly assign the competition route.
4. Successful submission of the pre-registration form does not guarantee registration. Successful registration is confirmed by the successful payment of the registration fee during the official registration phase.
5. Teams that completed pre-registration can proceed directly to payment during the official registration phase to complete their registration. Teams that did not complete pre-registration cannot proceed to official registration.
6. Once a team is formed, members cannot be replaced, and there is no subsequent process for replacing team members.
7. Teams that successfully register will receive an SMS notification from the organizing committee. Please keep the registration phone number and other information safe and wait for the announcement of grouping information. After the grouping information is announced, you can log in to the mini-program to view it.
8. The event will implement real-name authentication throughout. Participants must present valid identification for verification upon entering the venue. It is essential to provide accurate and truthful personal information during registration.
