Olympic Qualifier Series 2024 Shanghai venues ready to welcome athletes, fans

The organizing committee for the 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai has announced the completion of construction for the four venues set to host the prestigious sports gala. The event will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Park from May 16 to 19 and is located near the picturesque waterfront of the Huangpu River. The competition will showcase the exciting sports of breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing.

Anticipating around 1,200 participants, including 464 athletes, as well as personnel from the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Broadcasting Services, the event has garnered significant global interest. More than 300 domestic and foreign journalists and 210 broadcasters from 88 media organizations have registered to cover the competition.

Since its inception in October, the organizing committee has been diligently preparing for the event, meticulously planning accommodation, catering, transportation, medical care, security, hospitality, and ticketing arrangements, it said.

Leading up to the main event, the first stage, from April 16 to May 15, is focused on promoting the Olympic competitions in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region. This phase includes engaging offline promotional activities such as exhibition games and on-site experience activities to generate excitement among sports enthusiasts and the public.

Aligned with the main competitions, the second stage will feature a variety of activities including street dancing, fashion and music shows, and intangible cultural heritage markets, enhancing the overall experience for participants and spectators alike.

To support the running of the event, the organizing committee has enlisted over 1,200 volunteers, comprising more than 800 college students and over 400 social volunteers. These dedicated individuals will play a crucial role in providing essential services and ensuring the success of the Olympic Qualifier Series.
