Tour of Shanghai New Cities cycling race prepares to kick off
The Tour of Shanghai New Cities cycling race is set to be held on Sept 20-22 in the five "new cities" in the suburban areas of East China's Shanghai.

This is the first time that Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian and Nanhui will hold a major sporting event together. The race will feature 20 professional teams from countries including China, France, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as amateur riders.

On Sept 20, the first stage of the race, cyclists will pass through key landmarks in Jiading New City, including the Shanghai International Circuit – where the Chinese Grand Prix is held – as well as Yuanxiang Lake and Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre, covering a total distance of about 115 kilometers.

The second stage on Sept 21, which covers a distance of 87.2 km, will take riders from Qingpu New City to Songjiang New City – passing through scenic attractions such as Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, Dianshan Lake Scenic Area and Sheshan National Forest Park.

On Sept 22, the final day of the competition, the 96.5-km route will run from Fengxian New City to Nanhui New City, passing through major tourist spots such as Jinhai Lake, Fengxian Museum and Dishui Lake.
There will also be a 38-km amateur cycling around Dishui Lake held on the day, which opens its door to all enthusiasts.
Shanghai's Olympic track cycling champion Zhong Tianshi will be present to lead participants on this cycling adventure.
