Here are five fun and free activities to check out in Shanghai during the upcoming National Day holiday, which runs from Oct 1 to 7.

Watch a drone and fireworks show at Baoshan riverside area

Time: 8:30 pm - 9 pm, Sept 30

Location: Baoshan riverside area and Shanghai International Cruise Tourism Resort

Baoshan is set to illuminate the nigh sky with a spectacular show featuring aerial drones and fireworks.

Take a stroll at North Bund

Time: 3:30 pm - 9 pm, Oct 1-7

Location: North Bund Guoke Center and North Bund Garden

From Oct 1 to Oct 7, visitors to the North Bund can immerse themselves in traditional Chinese culture by donning traditional hanfu attire, crafting hand-painted fans, exploring the allure of traditional Chinese art, and indulging in a wide array of snacks, beverages, and culinary delights.

Visit Shanghai Expo Culture Park for Twin Hills and more

The vibrant inauguration of the southern section of the Shanghai Expo Culture Park on Sept 20 marked an exciting beginning. Visitors can not only climb the Twin Hills but also check out a photography exhibition running until December 31, street performances scheduled from Oct 1 to 5, and a pet carnival at the Pet Garden continuing until Oct 20.

Attend a music festival at Shanghai Wusong Paotaiwan Scenic Area

Time: 1: 30 pm - 4: 30 pm, Oct 3-6

Location: Shanghai Wusong Paotaiwan Scenic Area and the Shell Theater performing area

The upcoming youth music festival at the Shanghai Wusong Paotaiwan Scenic Area, running from Oct 3 to 6, will feature talented undergraduates from universities across China performing a diverse range of musical themes.
