Shanghai will light up like never before during its inaugural International Light Festival from Sept 19 to Oct 18. With 12 venues showcasing stunning light displays, this event promises an unforgettable journey through the city's vibrant blend of art and technology. Here are some highlights:

Pudong district

When: Sept 21 - Oct 18

Get ready for an exciting adventure through Pudong's iconic landmarks with four themed routes: Party and Discover, Family Fun, Artistic Stroll, and Landmark Moments. Key spots like MIFA 1862 and Shanghai No 1 Yaohan have transformed into canvases for breathtaking light art, blending urban life with dazzling displays. Take a stroll and soak up the vibrant spirit of Pudong as you embark on this trendsetting journey.

Huangpu district

When: Sept 19 - Oct 18

In Huangpu, marvel at core attractions like Guangming High School, which has donned a shimmering evening gown. Yuyuan Garden has transformed into a creative showcase filled with Eastern charm. The Old City Hall will present audiovisual art installations, combining light projections with interactive music performances. Visitors can enjoy nightly activities at landmarks like Guanglu Building and Rockbund, creating a dreamscape that's both nostalgic and hopeful.

Jing'an district

When: Sept 28 - Oct 7

This lively venue promises an exciting nightlife experience. Highlights include the Shanghai Exhibition Center and the riverside platform at Suhewan, where mesmerizing light shows turn these locales into must-visit hotspots. Don't miss the Phantom of the Opera-themed buses and a musical flash mob, along with a rooftop light and sound party – unlocking the trendiest nightlife in Jing'an!

Xuhui district

When: Oct 1 - Oct 18

At the Gate M West Bund Dream Center, catch the large-scale projection show titled Amplifier of Dreams, where light and art come together beautifully. Plus, check out the seasonal Fuxing Cat installation for a unique twist! This adorable cat, created by artist Wu Haijia, is a popular symbol of the Hengshan Road-Fuxing Road Historical and Cultural Block in Xuhui district.

Putuo district

When: Sept 30 - Oct 7

The opening ceremony on Sept 30 at Suzhou Creek Half-Marathon Park promises to be a highlight, featuring a mysterious laser light show along the creek. Attendees can also take boat rides to experience the brilliance of light art installations across the district, with over 20 captivating pieces enhancing the visual landscape.

Hongkou district

When: Sept 27 - Oct 13

Kick off the festivities at Hongkou riverside with engaging installations at iconic buildings. The celebration will honor the 75th National Day, featuring interactive displays that immerse you in a dazzling light-filled world, blending the vibrant energy of Shanghai with innovative low-carbon lifestyles. Don't miss the light performance arts season at Ruihong Tiandi, combining music, themed installations, and lively parades.

Yangpu district

When: Sept 19 - Oct 6

Join the Show Time light show on Sept 29 at Yangpu Riverside Show Bund Square, celebrating the district's transformation from industrial heritage to a vibrant community. Artistic lighted floats will traverse key areas, accompanied by an online and on-site Yangpu light map to guide your exploration.

Qingpu district

When: Sept 22 - Oct 7

In Qingpu, the beauty of water and light takes center stage at the China International Import Expo-themed lighting exhibition at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Lin-gang Special Area

Experience the Lin-gang Moment at Dishui Lake, where a spectacular lake-view light show will illuminate the surroundings, enhancing the waterfront charm.
