Getting married is a significant and exciting decision for couples. If you are planning to tie the knot, there's a lot you'll need to prepare, more so if you're in a foreign place. First there are some general requirements for marriage registration in China.

To get divorced, you must go to the marriage registration office and adhere to the following procedures.

Shanghai now offers citywide marriage registration for intl couples

Starting May 1, foreign-related marriage registration services will become accessible in all 16 districts of Shanghai, making it easier for expats to tie the knot with locals.

Shanghai expands transnational marriage services to three more districts

Three additional districts — Hongkou, Yangpu and Putuo — now permit foreign residents and their local partners to register their marriage within these districts, eliminating the need to travel elsewhere.
